Art Triennale running from 29th                      The 5th Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2012 finally starts Jul. 29 (sun). This art festival is held from Jul. 29 (sun) to Sep. 17 (mon), but Echigo-Tsumari Satoyama Museum of Contemporary Art, “Kinare” will be opened as a first excitement on 28th (sat) in the Tokamachi area, Niigata. “Kinare” which is a uniquely designed by architect Hiroshi Hara, is an interactive contemporary art museum that is focusing on environment of the nature and the cultural climate of Echigo-Tsumari. There are various art works exhibited including a large installation by Christian Boltanski in the center of the building and an installation by Gerda Steiner & Jorg Lenzlinger ,who recently hold a solo exhibition at Mito Art Museum, nearby the entrance. Artworks at Anjin 8 – Kazumasa Noguchi     Art Front Gallery is cooperating art coordination at Anjin and there are various works of international and domestic artists exhibited. We recently changed some permanent works there and works of Kazumasa Noguchi, who will be holding solo exhibition “Synthetic Garden” at Art Front Gallery from Jul 13 (fri), are newly exhibited. In recent years, Noguchi presented works using striped pattern. But these days, he explores his new expression in three dimensional works as well as installations. This time, Noguchi’s two dimensional work as well as three dimensional work will be exhibited at Anjin concurrently with the solo exhibition at Art Front Gallery. Exhibition Gendaikikakushitsu which is a related company of Art Front Gallery Co., Ltd published work collection books of Kiyoshi Awazu. Art Front Gallery co-operates with Daikanyama Hillside Forum in holding the special exhibition of Kiyoshi Awazu. Awazu explored free expression in the various fields such as architecture, theatre, art and music. His unique design using finger print, geographic map and personal seal with vivid colors became soon recognizable as his characteristic design. This year is the third year after his death, Hillside Forum presents different time/ topics of poster works and related documents on the main floor, also presents drawings, silkscreen printings, a film on the upper room. Special Exhibition: Journey with Hiroshige

4/24- 7/1                            Currently, a special exhibition, "Journey with Hiroshige" is taking place at "Anjin" a cafe space on 2nd floor, in Daikanyama Tsutaya Books. This exhibition theme is "travel". Hiroshige Utagawa's "Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido Road" and works of contemporary artists such as Tokuro Sakamoto and Syuji Yamamoto, who were both influenced by traditional Japanese artists, are exhibited. Tokuro Sakamoto is the contemporary Japanese painting artist who focuses on daily life as his main theme. Artists in Edo period like Hiroshige had a great influence on Sakamoto's work specially seen through his emphasis of perspective and picture composition. Art Front Gallery will present solo exhibition "Long Distance View" of Tokuro Sakamoto from Jun. 1 (fri). Artworks at Anjin 7 - Kaoru Oda Art Front Gallery is cooperating art coordination at Anjin and artworks by both domestic and international artists selected by Art Front Gallery are exhibited there. At this time, we would like to introduce works of Kaoru Oda, who participated a group exhibition entitled “Who by art” which was hold until Jun. 11 (mon) at Seibu, Shibuya. Kaoru Oda “Stand Still” iron, 230 x 230 x 175mm, 2011 Kaoru Oda creates three- dimensional works which are mostly shapes of house and building using iron as her main material. The artist’s works are themed of the existence of memory and emotion, her works seems to remind us something memorable in old times. Although the group exhibition just finished, there are a few her works shown which are different to the works in the group exhibition at “Anjin”, so it would be a great chance to see her works to people who visited the group exhibition, also people who missed it. Artworks at Anjin 5 – Miyuki Takenaka Art Front Gallery contributes to the art coordination of cafe space at Daikanyama Tsutaya Books, called "Anjin". There is permanent exhibition of artwork by various domestic and international artists selected by Art Front Gallery at Anjin. We recently changed some works at the site, and work of Miyuki Takenaka, who is currently holding solo exhibition at Art Front Gallery, will also be in view. Miyuki Takenaka “Layer of Memory” acrylic plate, glass bead, resin etc., 100 x 100 x 240mm, 2011 Takenaka has been mainly create flat works of drawings and those of using resin but recently began creating three-dimensional works. Such three-dimensional works using resin are also exhibited in her solo exhibition “Transparency” at Art Front Gallery, which will close on 27th May (sun.
